Raheem Sterling is the new darling of Liverpool fans after his fearless Premier League debut against Manchester City on Sunday but footage has emerged of the 17-year-old receiving a pre-season tongue-lashing from boss Brendan Rodgers.

"If you stay 'steady' to me again when I say something to you, you'll be on the first plane back," the Northern Irishman fumes at Sterling during an open talk with what appears to be the youth team squad this summer.

As Sterling protest, Rodgers insists: "You know what you said, I know what you said. You'll be on the first plane back."
