Atheism in the movies
AS PART of my ongoing research into movies centred on disbelief, last night I sat down to watch Blue Like Jazz, the movie version of Don Millers autobiographic book about how he rejected his Southern Baptist upbringing and became a vociferous critic of Christianity and Christian conservatives.
Given that IMDb billed it as a comedy/drama, I thought this tale about Don, a 19-year-old Southern Baptist who escapes his Bible Belt upbringing for a life at a godless liberal college in Portland, Oregon, would be have some laugh-out-loud moments, like Paul, which Id recently blogged about here.
