Philip Hyde Video: Photography as Propaganda – Messages from the Wilderness

My friend, David Leland Hyde, recently worked on this short video about his father, Philip Hyde, that is worth watching and sharing.

Philip Hyde was essentially the photographer that spurred the modern environmental movement through his work with the Sierra Club starting in the 1950s. More so than even his contemporaries, Ansel Adams and Eliot Porter, Philip Hyde photographed solely for environmental conservation issues which ended up saving the Grand Canyon from damming, Dinosaur National Monument, Point Reyes National Seashore, the Redwoods and other environmentally-sensitive locations.
