This year marks the third year that the personal finance community via Flexo of Consumerism Commentary has run its own awards of a sort to honor the best blogs in a variety of categories. The awards are called the Plutus Awards, and will honor personal finance blogs in a variety of categories from blog of the year, to the peoples choice award for the site with the most votes. So why is it called the Plutus Awards?
In ancient Greek mythology, Plutus was the god of wealth. Much like wealth itself, Plutus was blind, offering his virtues without regard for the virtuosity or merit of the recipient. He was lame but winged, leaving much more quickly than he could arrive.
