Sega and Nintendo just announced that PlayStation 2 crime saga Yakuza 1 and its sequel Yakuza 2 for Japan. The games are getting HD makeovers, and will take advantage of the Wii U GamePad via in-game maps and GamePad only play.

As part of its slide presentation to investors during its financial results yesterday, Ubisoft revealed its current market share among boxed game compared to competitors Activision, Take-Two and Microsoft. It seems that during FY2012, Activision had the highest share with 19.5% of the boxed market cornered.

Ubisoft collected the information using GfK Chart Track, Nielsen and NPD figures. The publishers with a higher market share in 2012 compared to 2011 were Activision, Ubisoft, Take-Two, and Microsoft, respectively.

Market share 2012; 2011 in parenthesis, via GI International:

Activision 19.5% (15.7%)
Electronic Arts 18.4% (19.7%)
Ubisoft 11.2% (8.8%)
