Uefa is set to award a place in the Champions League to the winners of the Europa League from the 2014-15 season, in order to make that competition more attractive, with an announcement expected on Friday.

Other plans under consideration include whether to award a fifth Champions League place to clubs in the big European leagues and to expand the number of Europa League places on offer.

Petrov in remission after battle with acute leukaemia

Aston Villa have confirmed their former captain Stiliyan Petrov will take up a new role as the assistant to development coach, Gordon Cowans, at the club's academy.

The 33-year-old Bulgarian announced his retirement earlier this month having spent over a year out of the first team, battling acute leukaemia. Petrov is in remission and has been charged with helping Cowans nurture Villa's future talent.

Manchester City visited American professional football team the New York Giants on Wednesday.

During their visit Manchester City defender Micah Richards tried to show histeammates how he measures up against the much bigger Giants defender Justin Tuck.

Tuck measuring in at1.94 meters and124.7 kilograms towered over Richards.

The two are seen laughing at each other in the video as they compare which defender is bigger.
