Wireless equipment makers Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks took important first steps toward the future heterogeneous networks this week at CTIA Wireless. Both vendors announced new traffic steering technologies that make Wi-Fi and cellular data networks play nice with one another.

Today Wi-Fi and 3G/4G networks sit side by side, but they hardly work together. When youre in the presence of an authorized hotspot your device will log in, leaving the cellular connection behind. As you wander away from the access point, your Wi-Fi connection gets weaker to the point of uselessness until your device finally disconnects and forces its way back onto the cellular grid. HTC Desire 200 and Desire 600 turn up in leaked certification page, benchmark results

HTC's Desire line of mid-range Android smartphones have typically used the alphabet to denote different models, but the company is now switching to numerals. At least according to a Taiwanese certification page, we can expect a Desire 200. Some leaked benchmark results also indicate that a Desire 600 will head to market.

We don't know much about the Desire 200 apart from its name. It's listed as the HTC 102e on the certification page, and there's plenty of speculation that this handset is the G2 we heard about earlier this year. It's a different story for the Desire 600: the benchmark results indicate this device sports a 960 x 540 (qHD) display with an unspecified 1.2GHz chip. All their apps and services, almost all the technologies they are working on, are geared for one purpose only get as much pageviews as possible to display ads on, and get as much information about you, to show the most actionable ads possible.

Today USPTO has published a patent application called Providing information through tactile feedback that makes Googles obsessive advertising priorities even more clear.

The patent app deals with the issue of the tactile/haptic feedback on touchscreen devices. The lack of such tactile feedback from our full touch smartphones and tablets, is probably one of the most annoying things about them.

Disney Research Aireal adds real force-feedback to Kinect gaming

Next-gen gaming wont be truly immersive until it blows, Disney Research believes, and it has the Kinect accessory to fix that tactile omission. Aireal uses a focused blast of air, fired from a compact cannon designed to sit alongside a sensor-bar like Kinect, to make action on the screen feel all the more realistic; shown off at SIGGRAPH in July, the cannon can track a player around and synchronize with the gameplay.

In the brief demo video shared on Aireal so far you can see if from the 0:44 point a gamer plays a goalkeeper simulator, with balls fired toward them on-screen.
