No. 20 Rochester beats Vassar, earns spot in Liberty League playoffs

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Down 1-0 at halftime, No. 20 Rochester found three goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to defeat Vassar 3-1 on Friday.

The victory clinches a spot in the Liberty League playoffs for Rochester. With one league game left on the schedule (Saturday at RPI), Rochester is 4-1. William Smith is 5-0. RPI and Skidmore are both 3-2. Union, St. Lawrence and Vassar have been eliminated from the race.

Vassar took a 1-0 lead at 22:59 when Cameron Felt shot into back left corner of the goal.

Rochester turned up the offensive pressure after the half. The Yellowjackets were awarded a penalty stroke less than a minute into the period. Michelle Relin's shot attempt to tie the score was blocked by Vassar goaltender Maggie Brells. 90 seconds... [via NCAA]
